Superman on Superman

sg I had never seen this super(!)-cool photo before, until it was generously sent to me by my pal Tommy, of the The Bat-Blog.

This is the voice of Superman on radio (and cartoons), Bud Collyer, checking out a 1946 issue of Superman.

Awesome pic, thanks Tommy!

Wow, he is one dapper looking guy, isn't he? I've seen a few photos of Collyer before, and he has that "MGM contract player" look about him in every one. Classy guy!

And what a great voice!

Bud was likely the first Supes I knew, after George (from the premiere of the Filmation show.)

To me, he's still one of the best; and listening to the radio shows, I totally see the compact, steely-eyed Shuster Supes!

Bud Collyer (whom I first knew as a game show host!) was a devout christian who wrote a number of religious books. If you happen to find one in a used book store, check inside as they are often signed!

I love Bud Collyer's voice, it had such command.
