Reading Is Fundamental - 2000

sgRob Kelly This is me helping my friends Chris and Carry's new daughter, Sage, start off right by reading her the classic Superman vs. The Flash treasury comic. As you can see, she's quite captivated.

Gotta get the next generation off on the right foot. That way she can take over this blog when I become senile.

That's a Silver-Age mitzvah there, Rob!

P.S. -

...and one of THE classic stories, too!

I've got the Treas, and the original "normal" comic, that I got off the rack new...

C'mon - Swan/Klein art (to me, their Supes is THE man!!!); and a great story (Jim Shooter?)

How great a movie would that make?

I had that treasury, as well! Two years after the release of this treasury, DC Comics Presents began it's run with an all-new Superman / Flash race, and I was psyched. I dug out my treasury and reread the original race stories then read DCP #1. When issue 2 came out, I again reread the treasury and then enjoyed issues 1 and 2 of DCP.

Treasury Comics were so cool. I bought every one I could find (and afford!) even when they featured characters about whom I was kind of apathetic like Spidey or the Hulk

Dude, Sage was TINY.

Hard to believe she's almost 7 years old and can read that by herself.
